Merge With Nature

“Life Forces” is a playful, environmentally-minded installation to Rockefeller Center designed by creative technologists Tin & Ed. “Life Forces” features interactive, 3D digital simulations of a variety of ecosystems. These natural scenes play on large LED screens encased in windows as portals into abstract rich natural worlds.

Applying technologies similar to those used in modern gaming, the screens are filled with vibrant three-dimensional digital lifeforms that come together to create life-like habitats. Real-time human body tracking technology will allow viewers to affect these interactive environments through their movement in front of the screens, with audience behaviour mimicking different forces that affect the natural world. Among the colourful and dynamic scenes and subjects that viewers will experience and interact with are the journey of pollen and spores, rock formations, blooming flowers, and mushrooms.

Why this matters

The experience will reinforce that humans are part of the natural world, not separate from it. “Life Forces” is an urgent, joyful reminder of the interconnectedness of every living thing and the fragile, complex bonds linking our every action to natural systems, like a network of invisible veins. By being able to embody these natural systems, you are able to visualize your impact on the world and the way that everybody has an impact on the world.
