Vision 2026

Evolution

As we navigate the coming decade, humanity is in the middle of a profound evolution. Preparing for the inevitable turbulence and friction ahead, we look to see the evolution of what came before and prepare for and imagine the shifts ahead.

The shift towards a multipolar world order is underway, influenced by rapid developments in AI and technology, the demographic challenges of an ageing population, the urgency of the energy transition, and the unpredictability of the global financial environment. Revaluating ethical standards becomes crucial to navigate and plan for the future.

The climate crisis escalates in visibility and severity, and with it, the social disruptions from climate change and biodiversity loss demand immediate attention. Businesses face the duty to question what they do and deliver quality, necessity, and usefulness, all while contributing positively to the social and environmental fabric of our world.

Progress is not inherently progressive; it loops and crawls backwards. In this rhythm of change, we can see glimpses of the future flickering within the now, a reflection of our own evolution. This is where attitudes shift, new habits form, and our collective actions redefine our reality. The future is a collective effort bounded by our imagination and our willingness to change and adapt.

Change can be frustrating, slow and it is hard. Embracing the concept of evolution and the survival of the fittest, we must recognize that enduring change, while challenging and gradual, is the path to shaping a future that aligns with our values. It is not about embracing the next technological breakthrough but by contributing to the world that will define generations to come. By actively engaging in this transformative process, we contribute to a sustainable, more resilient world where long-term planning and adaptability drive our collective progress.

Four Drivers of Change

The four directions of Vision 2026 are driven by evolution, of space, the world, society, nature, humans and the next generations.

1/ Archive to The Future

The first driver of change is Archive to The Future. Looking back to the practices of past civilizations can direct us towards a sustainable future. We face challenges that urge us to learn from history and adapt. Examining a bigger scope and history, we can learn from the past and evolve our societies and economies.

2/ Future Generations

Second, Future Generations looks at the largest youth generation in history. Their journey to adulthood is different and not marked by traditional milestones. By redefining what it means to grow up, they are shaping the cultural, social and economic landscape of the world to come.

3/ Being in Tune

The third driver, Being in Tune, examines how algorithms shape our preferences. There’s a push to maintain individuality and resist cultural homogenisation, emphasising the need for diverse experiences and self-knowledge. It is time for introspection, learning and contemplating over materialism and consumption. The value is placed on humanness, leading to new societal structures prioritising personal development and meaning.

4/ The Imagination Revolution

The Imagination Revolution presents technology’s rapid development, which pushes us into new realms, from exploring space to redefining life on Earth, demanding that we balance innovation with the planet’s health. These advancements challenge us to reimagine the human mind and humanity’s myths, ensuring that as we evolve, we maintain a connection to the essence of what it means to be human.

“The future unfolds through our imagination, formed by the decisions we make and the steps we take. This involves rethinking our values, goals, and the kind of legacy we want to leave for future generations. Through this process, we evolve, not just in form but in spirit and thought.”
