LMVH Innovation Award 2021

The LVMH Innovation Award theme for 2021 was "The Future of Customer Experience is Here". For the first time in the competition's history, six startups received awards instead of three in the previous years. The categories vary from sustainability to employee experience to data and AI intelligence.

Lab-made Cotton

An interesting winner in the sustainability category is Galy. They grow cotton in a lab from cells instead of plants to address excess water and pesticide use in cotton production. The cotton is grown ten times faster than the farm variety. The lab-grown cotton can be grown anywhere, without being dependent on soil and weather conditions without exhausting the planet. The plan is to produce yarn to sell to clothing brands.
