Vision 2024
How do you want to shape the future?
This year, Vision 2024 starts with a question “How as individuals do we wish to positively influence our future direction?” We all have an influence on how the future evolves.
The starting point could be the firm belief that it is possible to shape the future while remaining mindful of what truly matters and will add value for humanity and the world. Choosing the important issues to focus on whilst retaining independent thoughts and beliefs, dare to be different and go against the flow.
Vision 2024 examines the multidimensional, complex and challenging aspects of the world’s future direction. Analysing risks and confronting the issues that exist whilst preparing for the challenges ahead will become an important part of forward-thinking. Real-world issues demand our attention, and for these challenges, it is important to know the historical background. Many conflicts and challenges are built on historical grounds. We can no longer look the other way.
There are opportunities hidden in every crisis, and our response defines a crisis and can influence the outcomes. No matter how great the threat, a crisis can lead to progress. Our time offers an opportunity as urgent as it is unique to change direction. Imagination can create cohesion and structure in chaotic circumstances. An unpredictable and uncertain world means that people and businesses have to be as prepared as possible without knowing what the future will bring. Therefore businesses and strategies need to increase resilience, flexibility and foresight.
To prepare for the future, you need to shape it, envision possible scenario’s and plan the path based on your values whilst being in constant connection with the present. The future is uncertain. Change is a given. It is up to us to take up the challenge and learn to navigate with our values to transform the future. The focus for the future is the betterment of society, quality of life for all, including the natural world.
Four future directions
Vision 2024 identifies the four drivers of change for 2024 and beyond.
1/ New Age of Humanism
The first driver of change is called New Age of Humanism which considers strengthening relationships within communities and building genuine partnerships that support each other in response to dealing with crisis and uncertainty. Guidance can come from within, through spirituality, and taking principled and consistent ethical choices. A value system can function as a compass for life. The creation of values through a sense of solidarity and generosity of spirit will lead to a new age of humanism.

2/ The Stack
The second driver, The Stack, examines how stability is dependent on global relations and on local cohesion. A stable society operates on a human scale and recognises nature’s limits. All issues are interconnected and influence each other. It is essential to understand the mechanisms and history of inequality and how historical institutional inequalities that linger on for decades and centuries may affect long term outcomes. Problems are stacking up and causing an imbalance; the foundations of society are not solid.

3/ Climate Care
The third driver, Climate Care, shows that planetary health is more than simply survival. Climate risk is an existential question that can not be ignored. Our planet has irrevocably changed; a vision for the future is needed to help us prepare for the long term. Only by viewing the world as a whole can we tackle this crisis systematically and effectively. A long term strategy is needed to reach climate goals. All perspectives should be embraced, sharing ideas and actions to face this global crisis.

4/ Digital Worlds
Digital Worlds, focuses on new technology developed for both practical usage and fun. With new technological development and collaboration, it is possible to create a new digital reality, a world that aims at empowering and helping us all prosper. This can also inspire and change our physical reality. It is not just about being present in the metaverse. There is the opportunity to create the foundations of a digital world that empowers people instead of just accepting what is automatically evolving.

“The world is not a solid continent of facts
sprinkled by a few lakes of uncertainties, but a
vast ocean of uncertainties speckled by a few
islands of calibrated and stabilized forms.”
Bruno Latour
Sensemaking
The topics for 2024 are not light-hearted, but we hope that they can inspire the beginning of the new foundations on which the world depends. If we consider the long term and focus on a hopeful world in 2030, the foundations should be right.
We hope Vision 2024 will inspire you to help build a foundation for a prosperous world where it is possible to feel safe and secure and to thrive based on real values.
The four directions are connected and overlap. The foundation of trust is placed in the centre, it is crucial for a balanced world. The split in the Social circle is a divide that needs attention. Healing the divide is important to create a healthy society for the future.
The two axes are: Data & energy on one side and Connection on the other and horizontal it is Basic needs and automation. These axes are important for the type of future we choose to live in. What do you focus on?
