Care for clothes

Mending

Creating a wardrobe

Classic references

Caring for clothes is becoming more important, it will be common to spend extra effort to repair and repurpose clothes that are damaged. There will be a renewed interest in traditional sewing techniques and the skills needed to mend and alter clothes or services that are able to do so. Repairs will add to the aesthetic value and story of a piece of clothing.

Creating a wardrobe that lasts and that reflects an individual’s personal style will make people invest in high-quality, timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come.

There will be a renewed appreciation for timeless, classic references, with a focus on quality over quantity. This shift towards slower fashion will be reflected in long-lasting materials.

Wovens

Elevated everyday garments are not just about looking good but feeling good as well. The clothes are carefully curated and thoughtfully chosen to reflect a personality, beliefs, and lifestyle. Classic shapes in muted but expressive colours provide a sense of subtlety.

Reusing textiles to create new woven structures that are rough and look crafted. It is a way of seeing textile waste as an issue that needs to be solved, acknowledging the impact of the fashion industry on the environment and taking responsibility for our actions.

Slow down the process of fashion design. Search the archives of earlier designed pieces, edit, refine, and innovate the archive and evolve and improve ideas instead of producing something new every six months. Create collections that are an evolution.

Taking a nap

Soft wellbeing

Embrace ageing

Mood food

Taking a nap, even if it is just a short one, can help boost energy levels and improve mood. Napping has been shown to improve cognitive function and memory, as well as reduce stress levels.

Spending time with loved ones and nurturing positive relationships can also have a positive impact on overall wellbeing.

Growing older comes with its own challenges, it is important to be accepting, active and embrace the positives that come with aging. Beauty products should not be anti ageing but rather assist with the ageing process.

The relationship between nature, food and wellbeing. Foods that are known to boost mood and reduce stress, such as oily fish, nuts, whole grains, and leafy greens to support a healthier mind and body.

Learn to grow

Buy once

People meet over meals to celebrate, discuss, and connect with each other. The act of sharing food has been a part of human culture for centuries, and it is an important way to build relationships and communities.

Cooking from scratch with fresh vegetables and what is in our pantries not only results in healthier, more nutritious meals, but it also helps to reduce waste and save money. Many ingredients can be stored in the pantry instead of the refrigerator, saving energy and space.

Learning to grow food is a way to increase the connection with food. Food is so much more than just sustenance. It is a powerful force that can bring people together, nourish our bodies, and connect us to the natural world.

Homes are where people spend a significant amount of their time. It is a space to relax, feel comfortable and express personalities but also increasingly a workplace.

Simple shapes with clean lines are versatile and timeless. Family heirlooms, vintage pieces, and mementos from past travels can add character and interest to a space. These personal touches make a home feel lived-in and give it a sense of history and authenticity.

Comfortable furniture, soft lighting, and muted colours and haptic textures to create an atmosphere that allows people to unwind and recharge.

Simplicity, comfort and clarity provide headspace. Away from polished interiors to personally curated stories.

Promote health and healthier behaviours through retail. Retailers have partnered with health organizations to raise awareness surrounding important health issues and to provide resources to empower customers.

The power of slow activities to help people de-stress and unwind. From offering yoga classes to hosting meditation workshops, retailers are recognizing the importance of taking a step back from the chaos of daily life.

Simplicity and honesty are important values. Despite the increase in online shopping, human contact remains an important facet. Face-to-face interactions build loyalty and trust and foster a sense of community.

Creating communities

Spaces to meet

Interaction

Non-consumerism

Architecture can contribute to the social fabric of the communities it serves. Spaces for social interaction, such as communal areas, aim to create a sense of community and belonging. A library, an outside gym, and meeting area’s can bring people together and encourage social interactions.

Parks can encourage social interaction by including picnic area’s, benches, and playgrounds or events, such as concerts, festivals and outdoor markets. By designing spaces for activities rather than just for shopping, architects can help to reduce the emphasis on consumerism.

A building that includes spaces for community events, such as a cooking class or a workshop, can provide alternatives to the consumer-driven activities that make up urban areas.

Classic devices evoke a sense of nostalgia and simplicity that is appealing. From vinyl records to Polaroid cameras and CD players with buttons, people enjoy the quality, tactility and the memories they represent.

Music can be a powerful tool for relaxation and stress relief. Whether listening to a favorite album or playing an instrument, music can help to calm the mind and soothe the soul.

Unlike smartphones and other gadgets that demand attention, non-intrusive technology is designed to blend into the background and enhance lives without distraction.

Devices that use flickering light and calming sounds can induce a meditative state.

The idea of slowing down and experiencing the time it takes to travel from one place to another. A well-designed train coach or a classic car adds to the experience. It is not about speed, this type of mobility is about the journey.

Spending time in the natural world has become increasingly important and people swap their regular transport for an outdoor camper.

Polished and brushed metallics in soft shades combined with warm fabrics are a classic design statement. The use of brown shades and wood in mobility is comforting.

Lightweight travel, taking only the essentials that have a high functionality.
