Digital self

We all have a digital identity which is a combination of the data collected about our habits, characteristics, health and the transactions we have made. Our data is currently collected, owned and used by companies; a decentralised identity is an emerging concept that returns control of identity and autonomy to individuals. Privacy is a human right.

People must be able to manage their personal information in multiple ways and contexts. To do this, each individual must be able to create multiple unrelated identities. In the physical world, identity is unmistakable, but the digital world allows us to assume “multiple identities”, which can be confusing.

The digital economy has brought a wave of creatives with a DIY mindset that creates its content and can shape its community. The younger generation is self-made and creates their digital world. They make fun content, edit videos and are not afraid to post content that demonstrates their imperfections. Alongside creating entirely new content, they can create a unique blend of existing content with contemporary elements.

Archetypes from the old world are used and collaged together into striking manifestations. It is a curious group that connects to different periods. Teenagers are exposed to many ideas, opinions and values at a young age through the internet; they get input from all sides. It is a self-styled generation that does not want to be grouped by stereotypes of any kind. No one is a 100% type; we are collages, multifaceted and complex. A diverse group of people are shaping the culture, and technology plays a massive part in this.

Collaboration & creation

People are examining digital industries’ underlying economics and collaborating on moving the economy towards open standards, open-source and decentralised governance. Open source philosophy speaks to our ability to cooperate. Open knowledge movement and peer to peer sharing platforms such as Github are collaborative practices. The quality of output by so many and the level of craftsmanship are accelerating innovation.

The digital environment is changing education. Peer-to-peer content sharing platforms for teachers have taken off with teachers sharing (and selling) their lesson plans, worksheets, and activities. Many kids have experienced online learning, and the future will probably be a mix. At school, social norms, hierarchies and psychological building blocks are developed, and the digital arena makes it possible to learn from the best teachers available with accessible online courses.

Gamers have developed skills in virtual environments and through virtual collaboration. Game-based learning is a fundamental learning method for the youngest generations. Gamification at school is the idea of applying game elements to a non-game situation. With game-based education, the game becomes part of the learning process. Teaching with technology and particularly computer games is a way to tap into students’ intrinsic motivations for free movement and exploration of content. People who spend time playing games can effectively anticipate the consequences of future events.

Worldbuilding combines both the foundation and a series of ideas and rules for the game world. It is an essential aspect of game design that often blurs the boundary between the game and real life. Worldbuilding is a powerful tool that unlocks compelling interactive stories for future generations and can also provide ideas and solutions for the physical world.

VR, Ar and AI make sport immersive with content that provides a more personalised and interactive experience. Advanced technology finds ways to improve player performance and the fans experience. Training can be done at home in VR with feedback on performance and technique improvement. It is possible to train with a virtual version of your favourite athlete or play virtually with your favourite team.

Fans now have the opportunity to be more connected than ever with players and with each other. Immersive solutions give fans control over their life experience and enjoyment of the games.

Art, music, sports or gaming can serve as a form of self-care; it functions as self-expression and acts as an escape. Ideas, opinions, thoughts, and humour can be expressed through different mediums and channels, from images, memes, videos and music.

Making art and music can be a positive outlet to focus on. Work that you can share that is emotional, original and life-affirming.

Dematerialisation

Worlds that had seemed remote from each other are now joining together; art, sports and fashion merge with the digital world. Video games have become more mainstream, and virtual reality in its entirety is becoming a mainstream culture. Worlds combine such as gamers who live a virtual life and love streetwear. The online world allows limitless amounts of the same design, but virtual brands opt for scarcity and one-on-one editions.

Today’s young people spend a large part of their time online, and with the virtual self, express yourself with freedom and creativity. With these unique expressions, prices and value also shift. Digital collectables are creating the next generation of collectors. We are at the beginning of a revolution about value, money, and dematerialisation.

Our increasingly digital existence is characterised by a growth in spending on digital objects. Digital collectables have become investible. In the digital world, you can use these items. It raises questions about digital reality; however, see how people cry while watching a movie. There is value in not possessing something in a physical sense and seeing value in what you cannot touch.

Because of the pandemic, we have seen the devaluation of money; 23.6% of all US dollars were created in 2020. Crypto’s function as protection against inflation. The complexity of purchasing digital products, which often involves cryptocurrency, and an understanding of blockchain technology, is currently a barrier for many consumers. This causes a divide. Bitcoin has created more millionaires than any company or start-up in history.
